Nexus Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, July 21, 2024 – The 15th edition of the KCM Master U1800 FIDE Rated Classical tournament concluded today, marking another successful event hosted by Kelab Catur Melati. The tournament, held at the Nexus Regency Suites and Hotel, saw intense competition over two days, from July 20 to July 21, 2024.

Tournament Overview

The 15th KCM Master U1800 FIDE Rated Classical tournament featured a Swiss-system format with eight rounds. This year, it attracted 123 participants, each bringing their unique strategies and skills to the chessboard. The average rating of the players was 1519, showcasing a diverse mix of emerging talents and seasoned players from various age groups and backgrounds.

  • Beh Keat Ket from Kuen Cheng High School also secured 7 points, coming in second place due to tiebreak criteria.
  • Muhammad Syakir Bin Mohd Zin from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak achieved third place with 6.5 points, closely followed by Ainul Fikri Afeeq Harith and Yusuff Ismail.
